Is Parimatch Legal in India?

Quick answer: No. Offering online money games in India is prohibited, and the Enforcement Directorate is investigating Parimatch. This page does not recommend Parimatch or link to it.

What Indian law says

The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 received Presidential assent on 22 August 2025, and its provisions took effect on 1 May 2026. It prohibits offering online money games, advertising them, and processing payments for them. Reports say this also covers services offered to India from abroad.

A challenge to the Act is pending before the Supreme Court, and the Act remains in force. Our PROGA tracker lists the latest dates.

What is known about Parimatch in India

India’s Enforcement Directorate (ED) is investigating Parimatch under the money-laundering law. The figures below are the ED’s allegations, not court findings.

  • August 2025: the ED reported searches at 17 locations, about ₹110 crore frozen in accounts it describes as mule accounts, and 1,200 credit cards seized.
  • Alleged scale: the ED alleges about ₹3,000 crore came from Indian users in 2023-24 and was moved abroad.

The case began with a complaint registered by the cyber police in Mumbai.

Does a foreign licence make it legal?

No. A licence from another country applies under that country’s rules. It does not authorise a service to offer money games to people in India.

What are the risks for users?

  • No Indian consumer protection: you may have no practical way to recover money from an offshore operator.
  • Payment problems: banks and payment apps must not process these transactions.
  • Personal data: identity documents shared with an offshore service sit outside Indian oversight.
  • Fake sites: copycat domains can use a well-known brand name.

Reports say the Act penalises operators, advertisers and payment providers, not individual players. That is not a promise of safety, and state laws may also apply. See our state-wise guide and speak to a lawyer about your own position.
